  • Manitowoc held a conference in Egypt with long standing dealers Orascom Trading and International Development Programmes (IDP) to highlight the company’s latest products and innovations.
  • The conference underlined Manitowoc’s commitment to Egypt and the Middle East.
  • The event was a success with the sale of the first four MDT389 cranes in the Middle East.

The German Association for Heavy Transport and Lifting, BSK, recently held an event at Manitowoc’s facility in Wilhelmshaven, Germany, on June 3. The day-long event included a number of workshops that highlighted the latest technological innovations in the crane industry as well as presentations and seminars presented by representatives from both Manitowoc and BSK.

Over 80 customers attended the event along with representatives from several leading equipment manufacturers. The event also consisted of a detailed tour of Manitowoc’s factory that showcased the latest improvements in safety and technology and concluded with a presentation on Manitowoc’s latest crane introductions unveiled at bauma 2016.

“We are delighted with the successful exposure that BSK received as a result of this event,” said Wolfgang Draaf, managing director at BSK. “It provided us with a great opportunity to network and meet new people as well as share the latest trends in the crane industry. We were delighted to work in close collaboration with Manitowoc and we look forward to working alongside them again.”

At the event, customers were invited to participate in a number of workshops including “working at height” and the “latest development in synthetic ropes”. The workshops were presented by BSK and the FEM group (the European Materials Handling Federation) which consists of representatives from the all-terrain crane line.

Jens Ennen, senior vice president for mobile cranes in Europe and Africa at Manitowoc, said the conference gave visitors a valuable opportunity to learn about the latest crane innovations from the company in recent years. “This event enabled us to show guests some of Manitowoc’s latest product innovations,” he said. “It also provided us with the opportunity to demonstrate the company’s newest job site safety-related technology which was a major highlight for visitors. It was a pleasure to work with BSK and we hope to develop this relationship by hosting another event in the near future.”
